Enjoying Rapid Growth and Welcoming New Starters
Since the beginning of 2019 we have welcomed over 20 new starters across our international offices as part of an unprecedented period of growth.
In the past six weeks we have welcomed six new starters bringing exciting skills and specialisms to a number of different business areas.
Matt Smith, who specialises in the procurement and mobilisation of waste management services, joins us as Senior Consultant at our London Office. Matt previously lived in Australia, where he held positions in both the public and private sectors, including Senior Program Manager at the Transport for New South Wales (Department of Transport) and Commercial Operations Manager at JJ Richards and Sons, Australia’s largest private waste management company.
Also at our London Office, Kat Rowland joins us as Trainee Consultant. Kat studied Geography at Durham University before completing a Masters in Climate Change and Environmental Policy at Leeds University. She has also spent a summer interning at Ribble Rivers Trust, where she used ArcGIS to identify riparian areas at risk from agricultural pollution and debris blockages.
At our Bristol Office, Paul Marsh comes to us as Junior Consultant in our Sustainable Business Team. He brings with him several years of consultancy experience from his time at ecoVeritas advising companies on their producer responsibility obligations and helping them develop sustainable packaging strategies. In addition to his expert understanding of the issues surrounding packaging, recycling and the circular economy, he is a gifted numerical modeller.
Following recent news of the expansion of our North American office, we are happy to announce that yet another new starter joins our team in New York. Trainee Consultant Sanan Hajiyev has recently completed his B.A. in Environmental Policy at Union College in Schenectady, New York, where he focused on giving an anthropological account of the roots of environmental policy and law. He has also previously interned at the Center for Water Resource Conservation and Development (WARECOD) in Hanoi, Vietnam.
In response to the rapid business growth we have experienced in the past year, we have also recruited for newly-created support positions. Sophie Mullins joins us at our Bristol Office as Business Development Assistant, providing support with our tender review process and working closely with our Head of Commercial. She holds a Masters in Business Management by Research, which focussed on collaboration for circular economy implementation, and has volunteered in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, helping with water sanitation and hygiene projects.
Also based in our Bristol Office, Lily Chapman joins us Project Management Support Administrator, supporting the effective delivery of projects across the company by running compliance checks, creating and distributing reports from our project management system and providing administrative support to our Head of Operations.
Since the beginning of 2019 we have also welcomed Amy Nicholass, Georgena Barnard, Beth Raine, Alexa Cancio, Radha Daniel, Caroline Bradley, George Beechener, Katharina Porenta, Georgia Pathy, Vera Lahme, Daniella Radice, Laura Hilton, Marika Kulesza, Kyle Hutchens, John Carhart, Star Molteno, Emma Stewart and Toby Connock. Working across the full breadth of both our service areas and business support, our recruitment drive reflects the increasing demand for environmental and climate-related research and advice across a range of sectors.
With applications recently closing for Senior Consultant positions at both our North American and Athens offices and a further round of recruitment taking place later this autumn, we expect to be welcoming our 100th staff member shortly.
We’re currently looking for a Head of HR to support us through this exciting period, and will be announcing other new opportunities in the coming weeks. We’d love to hear from you if you’re interested in working with us, so keep an eye on our website and social media accounts, or sign up to our newsletter to stay informed of the latest opportunities.
