Eunomia Now Offering Waste Regulations Advice
Eunomia is now offering support to authorities seeking to understand the implications of the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011 for their waste collection services.
Local Authorities have new obligations under the Waste Regulations. From 1st January 2015, all waste collectors in England and Wales are required to collect four materials – glass, metal, paper, and plastic – separately where it is “necessary” and “technically, economically and environmentally practicable” (TEEP) to do so.
Eunomia authored the Waste Regulations Route Map which has been described by the Environment Agency as “excellent”, “good practice”, and as providing authorities who follow it “a high assurance”. The Agency is now considering how the Route Map “can form part of the regulatory regime”.
Our experience authoring the Route Map means we have an excellent understanding of the legal requirements in this area and, as a result, a number of authorities have already asked for our support.
Carlos Novoth, Public Space Manager at Stroud District Council said: “Stroud DC asked Eunomia to review our compliance with the waste regulations, and I’m impressed with how quickly and thoroughly they’ve carried it out. The expert advice they’ve given is reassuring and I feel confident relying on it as we plan for the future.”
