Seven new members of Eunomia’s Manchester Office were quizzed on their general knowledge at their first social – a ‘Sam’s Chop House’ pub quiz.
The infamous hostelry first opened its doors in 1872 and is legendary in the city for its British cuisine and exemplary corned beef hash. Whilst it was once the local of L.S. Lowry, punters today have to make do with a life size statue of him sat at the bar.
A quiz of four rounds saw the ‘Eunomians’ get steadily worse, when their reasonable naming of famous Richards in the picture round was followed by an unexceptional general knowledge result. Performance in the music intros round was even worse, as many tunes came from years before most of the team were born, leaving all hopes pinned on the final challenge.
In true environmental style Alex Forrest managed to keep our carbon footprint down when our paper aeroplane failed to take off following a collision with a ceiling fan and all hopes of the £100 cash prize were lost. Unfortunately finishing second from bottom also meant we missed out on the boobie-prize bag of sweets.
Still we all enjoyed the evening and it was a great chance to get to know new colleagues.
