Organisations are increasingly concerned about the impact that their activities, products and policies have. Life-cycle assessment (LCA) is a key decision support tool in this area. Eunomia has significant expertise in the application of this tool, together with an intimate knowledge of how key assumptions and parameters can shift any analysis either in favour, or against, a given solution.
Our work in this area is particularly extensive in respect of waste management treatment technologies and carbon impacts. We use our own treatment model (ATROPOS) and are also accredited WRATE ‘expert’ users.
We have also developed a detailed approach to comparing the carbon footprints of products which are manufactured overseas with potential local alternatives. This is especially relevant in terms of future global climate change agreements, which may see the UK being responsible for carbon ‘embodied’ within products consumed, rather than solely for those manufactured in this country.
