Eunomia uses sophisticated models to enable us to assess the likely effects of change. We have applied our modelling techniques in a variety of contexts, including household collection systems, commercial waste collections, litter and waste arisings. We have also modelled mass flows of raw and secondary materials.

We use our in-house waste collection model Hermes to enable local authorities to understand the likely performance of different collection systems.

Quantification is always a challenge, which becomes particularly important where there is a widespread but relatively small impact; a minor adjustment to the value assigned to it may have a very large effect on the overall value assigned to an option. Health, environmental and aesthetic impacts are particularly subject to such considerations. Eunomia will always seek to explore the sensitivities in any model we produce and will ensure that we comment on factors where a relatively small adjustment in the input value has a substantial effect on the output that is expected.
