From an engineering and environmental background
Adrian has been involved in waste management for nearly a decade and with Eunomia since 2004. A large part of his Cardiff University PhD was based from a research station on an operating landfill in the
Welsh
Valleys. His research into waste and environmental management covered landfill gas generation, waste composition analysis, compositional forecasting, composting processes and various prospects for renewable energy including a study into the aggregated potential renewable resource for
Wales as a whole.
The primary scope of the PhD related to changes in waste management resulting from
UK and European legislation. Additionally, in the university combustion laboratories he designed, built and operated a benchtop gasifier.
This firm grounding into the political, environmental and technical aspects of waste management has been bolstered through experience within the industry since joining Eunomia. During his time with the company he has handled a wide portfolio of projects concerning planning and strategy guidance, both in the general case and for several large
UK authorities. He has conducted a large number of critical and technical projects involving the review of waste generation, modelling collection option costs and performance, and advising on residual waste treatment. Clients have included the
Somerset, Leicestershire and Lancashire Waste Partnerships, the West London Waste Authority, the GLA, BAA and Greenstar to name but a few.
He continues to lead on and provide expert advice concerning waste collection, processing/treatment technologies and legal frameworks and policymaking. Other fields and interests include financial incentives, LCA/CBA, carbon and the options for (and considerations surrounding) biowaste.
