Claire Stonier joined Eunomia in January 2005. Prior to joining the company she worked in Defra as GIS manager in London during the foot and mouth epidemic before moving on to Waste Policy Division where she worked as a policy advisor with lead on fly tipping and Waste Management Licensing. She led on changes to the Duty of Care Regulations and represented Government for waste policy issues on national stakeholder fora. After working for Defra, Claire left to join the Environment Agency, where she worked as an Environment Officer. In this role she took the lead in dealing with pollution incidents, waste inspections and was heavily involved in the national team investigating illegal trans-frontier shipments of waste.
Claire's work with Eunomia has included work on the Municipal Waste Management Strategies for Shropshire, Hertfordshire and Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, part of which has involved leading on the development of the Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA). She has also worked for Defra on the Environmental Permitting Programme and Incentives Programme, Surrey County Council, Islington Council and Hampshire County Council. Claire is a representative on the South West steering group for IEMA (the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment), and has two degrees in the field of environmental management.
