Alison is a Senior Consultant at Eunomia and has been part of the team at Eunomia for nearly four years – of which six months was recently spent seconded to Eunomia New Zealand. Prior to this Alison worked for an environmental charity with the main focus of developing community based environmental projects, and obtaining relevant funding. Alison has a degree in Geography and a Masters Degree in Social Statistics both from the University of Southampton. Her Masters taught her many technical skills, including statistical modelling, analysis and interpretational skills, in order to manage social data effectively. She is considered to be the social research expert at Eunomia and takes responsibility for design of questionnaires, interviews and has moderated and run workshops for a range of projects throughout her career.
Alison has project managed a wide-range of projects at Eunomia. Her specific interests lie in the waste prevention and re-use agenda. She has worked on several Municipal Waste Management Strategies – with a specific focus on the waste prevention element of the strategies, and in particular managing the use and development of Eunomia’s in-house waste prevention model. From a policy-perspective she was part of the consortium which worked on an International Review of Waste Management Policy for the Irish Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. Furthermore, Alison project managed a study for the OECD which concluded with recommendations for implementation of sustainable materials management policy across OECD countries. At a UK-level she undertook a review of the Environment Agency’s Sustainable Consumption and Production Network’s (SCPnet) activities during the last business plan period (2007-10) and presented the findings to the SCPnet Board. Alison is also a key member of the procurement team at Eunomia, and is currently managing a procurement process for a Northern Irish authority. She also worked on a review of waste collection service procurement guidance for local authority waste and procurement officers.
