Mike has 20 years experience in the energy and waste sectors, including a period as Managing Director of the Cornwall County Council owned County Environmental Services (CES) Ltd from the late 90s until the sale of CES to SITA in 2006. Mike has been lead advisor to Defra’s New Technologies Demonstrator Programme since its inception in 2003 and was the founder Chairman of the then DTI and devolved administrations endorsed National Resource and Waste Forum.
Mike has a track record of bringing focused and consistent leadership to the public and private and sectors, and of transforming technically and politically complex businesses through the ability to apply commercial skills and set clear direction. He has the ability to ‘master-plan’ and deliver large-scale projects spanning environmental, financial, legal and commercial disciplines. He has recently successfully delivered a new joint venture company on behalf of RWE Npower, Peel Energy and DONG Energy and directs the project management of the consenting phase of a new 1,600MW clean coal (with CCS) power station in Scotland. Mike has also directed energy from waste related projects at Eunomia on behalf of Goldman Sachs, Scottish and Southern Energy, Defra and Nord LB.
