Next week our chairman Dominic Hogg and the Head of our New York office Sarah Edwards are presenting at the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA)’s WASTECON in Nashville.

The event will bring together leaders in the industry from waste management companies to government officials and policy makers to discuss the pressing issues facing the waste and resources sector. Dominic and Sarah are speaking in the session ‘Battling the Marine Debris Blues’ on Tuesday the 21st of August, where they will be discussing the best way to combat the marine plastic issue, part of which will discuss the impact and influence of a move towards a more circular economy.

As part of SWANA’s WASTECON we have produced four short Circular Economy 101 videos, which bring together views from representatives across the industry on what the circular economy means to them, aiming to inform and inspire attendees at the conference to join the movement towards a circular economy and come and hear more about it at relevant seminars. We asked Kate Daley from Closed Loops’ Centre for the Circular Economy, Susan Robinson from Waste Management, Louise McGregor from Zero Waste Scotland and Chris Underwood from the City of Vancouver a series of questions, including what they were doing to facilitate the transition to a circular economy, what the benefits of a closed loop system are, and what we can all do to contribute to the circular economy. The videos will be live on the SWANA app for the duration of the conference, and can also be found on our YouTube page.

We will also be exhibiting in the WASTECON poster competition, providing a summary of the work we have done to inform multifamily organic waste collections in New York city.

The Head of our New York office, Sarah Edwards, said:

“We’re really excited to be in the midst of the discussion at SWANA’s WASTECON this year, and we’re looking forward to engaging with the industry’s best and brightest on measures to address marine plastics and the how to drive the circular economy. Our Chairman Dominic Hogg is a world leader in these topics, having delivered some of the most influential research and circular economy programmes in Europe and beyond. We’re looking forward to discussing what solutions are appropriate in the context of the US. Please come and introduce yourself if you’re interested in working together or hearing more about our company and services.”
