Nik is a chartered waste manager who has over 20 years’ experience in the environmental sector, more than a decade of it in the waste industry. He has significant experience in local authority waste management, having worked in both the client and the contractor role.
Nik focuses primarily on waste infrastructure and waste service procurement projects. His procurement expertise spans the range of local government waste services, including residual waste processing, household waste recycling centre projects, MRF projects, waste transfer station projects and organic waste processing projects.
With in-depth operational knowledge of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, Nik has experience of managing procurement projects using all of the widely-utilised procurement procedures, including Competitive Dialogue, Competitive Procedure with Negotiation, Restricted Procedure, and Open Procedure.
Nik’s experience and advice to clients spans the entire procurement life cycle:
- strategic selection of the commissioning route;
- development of the business case and procurement strategy;
- production of procurement and contract documentation;
- evaluation of submissions;
- negotiation with the market;
- production of selection and award reports; and
- strategic support during the mobilisation phase.
He has acted as project manager and lead technical adviser in procurements for a number of local authorities, including West London Waste Authority, Derbyshire County Council and Ealing Borough Council. Nik has also worked for waste management contractors, supporting the development of high quality tender documents in response to local authority invitations to tender.
Before joining Eunomia, Nik worked for SUEZ Recycling & Recovery Ltd as a Regional Bid Manager, and before that as a Principal Consultant at Jacobs. At SUEZ, Nik took responsibility for all bids for public sector projects in the South of the UK, leading a team of bidders to develop solutions and submit proposals. At Jacobs (formerly SKM Enviros), Nik delivered technical and procurement advice to a large number of local authority and private sector clients, particularly on projects involving the development of waste infrastructure and waste services.
