Director Mike Brown spoke to delegates of the trade seminar on RDF organised by Geminor and DFDS aboard the DFDS Seaways vessel on its journey from Copenhagen to Oslo.
At the event on Tuesday 8th September, Mike presented on the growing UK RDF export market, advising on strategies to succeed in this increasingly competitive sector and key opportunities for expansion into currently underdeveloped markets. The UK example demonstrates how existing facilities with excess capacity can help countries across the EU move waste out of landfill and increase recycling.
In his presentation Mike explained how recycling targets and waste infrastructure in the UK create a feedstock of RDF exports and the impact this competition has on facilities’ gate fees. He also provided a forward look at developments in waste infrastructure, recycling and exports to indicate how the RDF export market may develop in the medium to long term.
