Eunomia Chairman Dr Dominic Hogg will be in Brussels on Wednesday 17th September participating in a high level roundtable discussion under the topic “Pay-as-you-throw as an efficient local instrument?”

The conference is organised by the Regions for Recycling lead project partners; ORDIF (Ile-de-France Regional Waste Management Observatory), ACR+ (Association of Cities and Regions) and OVAM (Flemish Waste Agency). Alongside Dominic,  other speakers include Michel Lebrun, the President of the Committee of the Regions, and Malgorzata Golebiewska of the European Commission.

Organised in the framework of the R4R project (Regions for Recycling) with the support of the Committee of the Regions, the conference will aim to provide a contribution to the debate on the review of waste management targets related to the new proposal of the EU waste legislative package. The conference will also address some key local and regional instruments helping to improve waste prevention and recycling performances, in particular economic instruments.

Objectives of the project include highlighting the role of local and regional authorities in those debates and showcasing their expertise.

Regions for Recycling (R4R) is a 3-year European project (2012-2014) aiming at improving its partners’ recycling performances through consistent comparisons and an exchange of good practice. R4R involves 13 partners and is co-funded by the INTERREG IVC programme.
